Having known Eleanor Director and Editor since 2006, it is still amazing to me how much passion and energy she has and still is dedicating to get the Ageless Website and her blog updated. There is so much relevant and useful info and sharing. It would take a few paid staff to collate all these, and yet Eleanor is doing this so seamlessly and authentically..for the good of all seniors! Keep it up, Eleanor, despite your frustrations. Call on your friends during your down time. Wish I know how to support. Cheers!

It was my daughter who loaded this same clip on her blog and informed me about it quite some time ago. Though it's only 5 minute..it's message is eternal and will stir your emotions.
Wonderful clip!

I don't understand why it takes three years to implement a piece of long-overdue legislation. Why can't we legislate immediately that it is not okay to ask for people's age in application forms; it is not okay to only want to hire people for specific positions who are in their mid-30s, etc., etc. And the government itself needs to set the right example. Some of its own practices are very ageist and set the wrong example for the private sector to follow. I am a senior and very competent executive who turned 50 last year, and am trying not to be discouraged about my decreasing chances of getting a comparable position - friendly feedback from recruiters. If i am truly being passed over for jobs that i know i will be much better at than other candidates, i will be very pissed off indeed. Why does aging, which is a natural process that happens to everybody, suddenly turn one into a candidate for the scrapheap, before one is broken? Is it our Singapore penchant for the always new that is at the root of this problem?

It is truly a sad reflection of this modern world and in the age of the new millenium at that.
The stats don't tell the whole story. It's only the tip of the iceberg.
I have personally seen an old man who could hardly walk struggling to come out from the HDB lift..using only a rickety plastic chair for support and to provide him some balance. He was ambling along just to look for some food. I gave him some money as he had none...and escorted him to the nearest coffeeshop.
The times..they are a-changing! ( line from a song)
